Im 14 years old, 5 feet 4 inches and 110 pounds and i am looking for a dual slalom mountain bike. I want it to be a good durable bike that is under $1500. What would be a good size bike for me. I you know any thing else that would help me i would appreciate it.

I would look at hardtail dirt jumpers such as the KHS dj’s, Kona stuff, GT chucker, Jamis komodo, and Specialized P bikes.

This is a video of the Red Bull Rampage competition that was held in Virgin, Utah for three years in a row, I think from 2002-2004. The event was held again in October of 2008. The goal of this competition is to get down the mountain the most difficult way without wrecking or putting a foot down. This stuff is sick!

im looking to get a specialized p1 or a haro zero. im into dirt jumping but i love sit down wheelies. i can keep em goin for a while on geared mountain bikes but is it possible for single speed dirt jump mountain bikes?

there shouldn’t be any difference exept u won’t be able to change gears

I just bought a bike. It is called a comfort bike, because it has wheels with flat centers for riding on roads, however it has front shocks and a shimano shifter. What is the difference between this bike and a hard tail mountain bike? is it just the wheels, or are there other differences?

Main differences:
- durability of components – example that front shock probably won’t stand the abuse that a real mtb shock will… your is designed more for comfort on slightly bumpy trails, vs real abuse over high speed rocks and roots.
Wheels and other parts also are probably a lower grade – just find for casual use but will wear out fast under hard / dirty conditions.
- body position – yours is probably more upright (comfort) vs bent over/stretched out for power of an mtb
